Matsuya Foods has announced that it will open Yatsushiro, a Matsuya-Matsunoya combined store, in Kitanomaru-machi, Yatsushiro-shi, Kumamoto at 10:00 on October 15. The format puts Matsunoya, known for tonkatsu, and Matsuya, known for Gyumeshi, under one roof, and a grand opening SALE will run for the first 12 days.

The official announcement describes the site as close to the Yatsushiro Castle ruins, a nationally designated historic site, with good access from public facilities and major roads. During the Period, the Pork Loin Cutlet Set Meal Falls Below the Set Meal Floor

Of the 22 Matsunoya set meals listed on the official menu, the lowest regular price is the Pork Loin Cutlet Set Meal at 690 yen. The SALE price of 590 yen undercuts that by another 100 yen, so during the period the set meal floor at Yatsushiro becomes 590 yen. The 690 yen for the Pork Loin Cutlet Set Meal w/ Miso Sauce and the Pork Loin Cutlet Set Meal w/ Grated Radish matches the regular price of the Pork Loin Cutlet Set Meal, normally the cheapest.

This same combination of 500, 590 and 690 yen, with the same items covered, appeared in the notices for the combined store in Saijo, Ehime announced on September 24, 2025 and the combined store in Akita, Akita announced on October 20 of the same year.

First Combined Store Announcement in 210 Days

The last time a Matsuya-Matsunoya combined store opening was announced in an official notice was the first store in Shimane on March 18, 2026, making this the first in 210 days. Against 20 such announcements in 2025, 2026 has seen only two including Yatsushiro.

For Matsunoya in Kumamoto, the store list shows four locations — Kumamoto Shinshigai, Kumamoto Nagamine-minami, Kumamoto Sakuragi and Kumamoto Hikarinomori — with Yatsushiro following them. Yatsushiro will be the only Matsunoya listed in Yatsushiro.

As of late September, the store list carried the note “Opening October 15 at 10:00” appended to the store name.
