Sheepmeat Finished by “Oil-Cooking”

The dish uses carefully selected Aussie Sheepmeat. Matsunoya says it finishes the meat by oil-cooking, the method particular to a tonkatsu chain, keeping the meat’s distinctive flavor while giving it a tender, easy-to-eat texture. The meat is then tossed in a soy-sauce-based special tare. The vegetables coated in that tare are also “finished to a star-level deliciousness,” according to the notice.

The notice image shows sheepmeat with cabbage, green peppers and carrots in an iron pan, all coated in the tare. Along the top of the image, the Matsunoya logo and an “AUSSIE SHEEPMEAT” logo sit side by side.

The First Sheepmeat Item Since August 2024

Sheepmeat items at Matsunoya have appeared in the official website’s notices twice before: the Lamb Cutlet in August 2023 and its re-release in August 2024. This is the next entry in that line.

Launch Date Item Set Meal Price (tax included)
August 23, 2023 Lamb Cutlet Set Meal 1,090 yen
August 21, 2024 Lamb Cutlet Set Meal (3 pcs) 1,290 yen
October 14, 2026 Jingisukan Set Meal 1,190 yen

Both Lamb Cutlet runs were served as cutlets, and a Mixed Set Meal pairing it with Pork Loin Cutlet was offered alongside. This time the dish takes an iron-plate form, and the notice lists no Mixed option. The sheepmeat is the same, but the item itself is a different one; this is not a re-release of the Lamb Cutlet.

The Price Sits in the Upper Band

Lined up against the set meals currently listed on the official website’s menu, 1,190 yen falls here.

Price (tax included) Set Meal
1,290 yen Extra Thick-Cut Rib Loin Cutlet w/ Tomato Sauce Set Meal, Generous Fried Oyster (7 pcs) Set Meal
1,190 yen Jingisukan Set Meal (launches October 14, 2026), Pork Loin Cutlet w/ Tomato Sauce & Cheese Set Meal, Japanese Authentic Fried Chicken(8 Pieces) w/Grated Radish
1,160 yen Japanese Authentic Fried Chicken(8 Pieces)

The cheapest set meal at Matsunoya is PorkLoinCutlet at 690 yen, which puts the Jingisukan Set Meal 500 yen above it. At 990 yen, the single item matches Extra Thick-Cut Rib Loin Cutlet w/ Tomato Sauce.

A “Shinmai Fair Vol. 2” Badge on the Notice Image

A “Shinmai Fair Vol. 2” badge sits in the lower right of the notice image. The headline also puts new-harvest rice up front, framing the dish as something to tuck into alongside shinmai.

The notice additionally carries the line “free rice refills, as many bowls as you like, with a dine-in set meal,” noting that some stores run the service. Matsunoya has been announcing it for set meal items since 3:00 p.m. on September 30, 2026, and the eligible stores are listed on the official website.
